Notes

I have many thoughts on the recent US kidnapping/invasion/incursion/whatever in Venezuela (just like everyone with a working brain), however, I feel like my new hypothesis is more relevant than ever: Global leaders need to play more computer games.
They have no outlet for their strategy and wonder. They need a sandbox where they can scratch that itch for geopoliticing insane strategies. I suggest they pick their poison from the Paradox suite, like Crusader Kings 3, Europa Universalis 5, Victoria 3, and Hearts of Iron 4.

After adding only a few notes, I can already see how this is going to be complicated to sort topics in the future. I like how there is a single stream, but with using shortcodes to create Notes, it will be difficult to catagorize. It might be useful to transition this into a more blog like styling that Hugo excels at, then you can organize by certain tags, etc. Furthermore, this can all be extended with the new-weblog.sh script to insert into different categories.

I am going to try to integrate more animated gifs to this site. This will help me understand things I’ve done beyond just reading commands. I think the best way to go about this will be using Peek. Peek is easy to install and easy to use. I wonder if it has an applet so I can hotkey it’s usage?

I was able to make some core updates to this site, to include adding this notes page, adding weblogs page, updating formatting on a few pages (bash cheatsheet), add shortcodes, add css, created scripts to update the notes page and the weblogs page. A lot of little works done…a work in progress indeed, but pretty fulfilling. Now to push to prod, errr…

Next up will have to be documenting much of this. It can be difficult to not be sucked in by presentation at the expense of creating actual site content. I would also like to build out the “beats” section.

I have the beginnings of a notes page! Some things to think about:

• how to make this a bash script so I can add updates to this quickly and simply through the terminal
• how to index these
  • i have a “hint” which is like a category. this could be something that the bash script handles i suppose

I should make a page where I can add some random notes. Like a page specific microblog, like tweets. It doesn’t need to be anything special, just a very minimally stylized list. It will also give me an opportunity to mess around with Hugo shortcodes, something I’ve been wanting to do.

Eventually, this page can be derived from a bash script so maybe they can instantly publish?
